Lucas Foglia
Untitled,
From the Series A Natural Order, 2008
Lucas Foglia is an American photographer, born in New York, where he grew up on his family’s farm. He currently lives and works in San Francisco. His photographs have been exhibited across Europe and the US, and are in the permanent collections of museums including the Denver Art Museum, Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Philadelphia Museum of Art, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and Victoria & Albert Museum. Inspired by his own alternative upbringing, Foglia’s work explores people and communities that live in the remotest parts of America. His chosen image comes from his first book A Natural Order (2012); a four-year project that documents a network of people who have left cities or suburbs to live completely self-sufficient lives in the rural southeastern United States.
