‘Deux Chevaux’ is live performance devised by the artist William Mackrell, where two horses attempt to pull a two horsepower Citroen 2CV through the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
The project was trialed in the Northumberland countryside in the summer of 2011 and has been carefully planned to ensure that it can be successfully repeated in London this summer. The event is set to take place on 21st June 2014 with the public invited to interact with the ensemble as it moves through the borough, stopping at nine local cultural landmarks including Hyde Park, the Victoria & Albert Museum, Chelsea Theatre and Duke of York Square.
Mackrell intends to document the performance through video and a series of photographs. He hopes that the project will provoke an exciting conversation about the parameters and rules of language, through an acute juxtaposition of the organic and mechanic.
